Day 15: Part 1; Glaisdale to Robin Hood’s Bay

It is hard to believe but today is going to be our last day walking. On August 30, the distance and time in front of us seemed to stretch out endlessly. It was hard to comprehend walking 190 miles in its entirety.

Except for Petra, no one has attempted, let alone completed, a long distance walk before. Now with approximately 18.5 miles left it seems like time and distance has been fast-forwarded.

It is exciting to contemplate completing the Coast to Coast.  The anticipation of the moment when we stand together along the edge of the North Sea to toss our stones that we’ve carried from St. Bee’s into the North Sea is palpable.

It is also melancholic to realize we won’t be together in a couple of days. We have shared hearty breakfasts…

… picnic lunches

Who has the whale salami?

…celebratory dinners

…and toasts everyday for the past 15 days.

Cheers!

Did I already mention toasts?

And then there ARE TOASTS!

The rhythm and harmony of our days will change.

Starting our day with a group photo outside our lodging…

…the interesting conversations

Hmmm, definitely an interesting conversation.

…the camaraderie

Bromance! Is it Firill or Bilroz?

…and companionable silences as we walk.

All will be memories soon.
